Can anyone help me try & work out a screen problem i seem to have recently acquired?Have been through the re solder of the DC in jack issue, have just re-done it as neatly as possible to make sure it isn't the cause of my problem.Have always had a slight screen flicker if you for some reason pickup the 8930g, but it's never been an issue. I've just avoided doing so, presuming you're putting undue pressure on connections. In the last 2 days on normal turning on, have had blue screen/seemingly bad connections, horizontal lines, leading to a complete failure of resolution with the entire screen going white similar to the effect if for some dumb reason you put a magnet near a tv screen! If the problem occurs, the only resolution is restart & interrupt boot menu, going safe mode or just interrupt & then just starts normally.Weirdly, crtl + alt + del interrupts blue screen black screen, so maybe it's not wiring but driver issue? Have updated nvidia drivers & checked what my limited knowledge allows me.The thing that gets me is how it's completely inconsistent!Otherwise she's AOK. Funnily enough I've also been looking at this forum working out what CPU to upgrade to just been negotiating price of X9100, & now this starts to happen.I've been looking on the interweb but can't find any particular issues similar to the DC jack thing, & the fact that I can sometimes interrupt the blue screen with crtl + alt + del makes me wonder if it's the GPU or something else outside my limited computing knowledge. If you can think of any avenues to chase up I'd be grateful!Just remembered I updated BIOS to 1.20 recently, with no problems, if that can have any bearing. Although the more I think about it it seems to be a wiring issue.
FYI I managed to I hope fix my dodgy screen issue.Having convinced myself it was a wiring problem I took it apart, & found that one of the wires feeding into the screen, near to the DC jack, had at some point moved & snagged itself around one of the screws holding the case together. It had worn through the insulation, causing a short. That's a relief! Can I just double check with you guys that you have no problems with the X9100 CPU? It doesn't overheat or anything? And also, at present I have a 9600M GS GPU, is it really worth upgrading to a GT? List prices for the two are fairly similar. Nice try with the Gasket close you will close the gap between fun and heat pipes the gasket has on it something to close that gap.
You will have better temps. Also Something that i do my self is to cut the Metal Plate from GPU Heat Sink and make it only to atract temp from GPU NOT the Memories. So i use these for the Memories. So with that mod the Heat pipe will be used only for the GPU No the memories. And U can overclock it very much. The g94 core afte 90 Celcius Its Using only the 80% from Gpu NO downclock Afte 100C 70% and after 105C Shutdown So With this Mod With Overclock you Will Have 75C Max.I use this paste. Its a Metal Liquid and is By far the best I use Artic Silver 5 before its about 6-7 C more.hope I help.
Metra line output converter wiring diagram. Apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere, but this thread is huge and searching hasn't turned up an answer. My problem is quite an annoying one, basically if i have music playing, be it via foobar/wmp or whatever, then the laptop pretty much freezes up(not as soon as i play music, but can be anything from a few seconds to minutes): Webpages wont scroll/load etc, but the music carries on playing as normal. The only way to resolve this is to press the mute key on the cinedash, which causes everything to spring back into life again. This will repeat itself if music is restarted(but not always.)The problem can also occur in games, whereby it will lock up and a single sound effect will loop constantly. Again a mute will unlock the machine.I've tried different drivers, both from the acer site and realtek ones.Any ideas?

HiI have an acer aspire 6920 and my entertainment touch pad has stopped working to. Did anyone find an answer to this problem only I'm stuck as to what to do?Please help.Sorry mate, but I'm still in the same position as you. I'm not down to send away my laptop to have it fixed if I can find an easy fix like resetting the software that makes the finger launchpad work.I'll keep checking back here in hopes of finding a solution as it appears to not be uncommon. If I find anything I'll post it here too.I have come to realize that with it not working, I find it extremely annoying to alt tab to change track, mute or change the volume. I have fixed mine, shortly after I posted last. This is to all who have been having this problem.
Turn off your Acer Aspire 8920, take out the battery, put the battery back in, turn it on.Problem solved. If not, look up cinedash touchpad on google, I read somewhere it may have to do with Acer eRecovery.First try the battery thing though, as it worked for me first try!
=DNice one dude, that sorted it for me, i had tried the usual cleaning and restarting to no avail.battery worked though so thanks, saved me the restoreone thing that does bother me though, when im typing the end of the sentence ends up at the beginning, i think its the mouse sensitivity, must check that. No problem guys, I simply got lucky and googled untill I found the solution, and figured that I would try to help out others who couldn't get proper tech support out of Acer.On another note, I've been getting a good deal of BSoD's on my 8920.(Blue screens of death). And I can't find the precise cause, although I have a 3 year warranty, I want to see if there is a solution without having to bring it in. ( I called in where I bought it and they said it was 35 bucks to run a diagnostic, if they find a problem then I get my money back and they replace whatever parts are defective)I was just wondering if anyone of you has been getting similar problems. The crashes occur when I run either simple programs like Skype, or games such as Left 4 Dead, but not persistantly. It's hit or miss. You're welcome, I'm glad that a little bit of searching and posting last November has helped so many people fix a simple problem =Right now my Aspire is out in Ontario at Acer getting fixed.
Cause this time it actually WAS broken pretty bad lol.I first noticed I was having a lot of Blue Screen of Death, then I noticed my laptop was dying a lot. So I sent it in and the diagnostics said my hard disk was defective. So I sent it in. Got it back just under 2 weeks later. And Vista was installed in FRENCH.?! So then the problem of it dying all the time was still present, so I called Acer up and said send a new battery. They had me calibrate it.etc still didnt work.
So they finally agreed to exchange my battery for a new one. That didn't work either. So I just sent it in again and they're fixing internal components that won't let it convert energy to the battery properly. As well as putting Vista back in English.I havn't had it working for over a month now. I really hope none of you have problems as bad as these!
